Some post-show feedback from the press and my audience.
This past Wednesday, my friend Ken Starrett, along with my cabaret colleagues Rian Keating, AG Axelrod, Anthony Santelmo, Jr, Brian O'Connor, Evangeline Johns, and Nancy Winston welcomed back cabaret singer Debra Vogel in her first New York performance in three years. Her show, "Debra Vogel: It's A Jungle Out There" was presented at The Salmagundi Club in Manhattan to an enthusiastic packed audience. It was a delight from start to finish showcasing Debra's talents not only as a terrific singer but also as a marvelous interpreter of lyrics. I never cease to be amazed at Debra's versatility. She has an impressive vocal range. She can sing a very moving love song using her beautiful soprano voice and then immediately switch gears and with her lower register, she can be extremely funny performing a comic number. The show was very well-directed by Debra's husband Elfin Vogel and choreographed by Nora Brown. The musical director was the incomparable Darryl Curry, who also served as pianist and occasional vocalist, giving Debra excellent support throughout the program. It was so great to see Debra back in New York City performing again. I hope she reprises this show very soon. To paraphrase Jerry Herman, Debra, "it's so nice to have you back where you belong". Can't wait to see and hear you again. Brava!

“…this lady has great pipes and seems like she can sing anything…She’s someone to watch and to go to see”.

“Ms. Vogel is a sly and knowing comedienne who can also deliver a richly heartfelt ballad”.

I really enjoyed myself. Not only did you sing beautifully, but I loved the way you drew us into the stories of each piece you selected with your acting and choreography. It all weaved together very nicely into the theme of the entire program "I Feel Lucky."
